Decisions

I was talking with a friend last night about two very possible scenarios for the United States in the near future:

  1. An Electro-magnetic Pulse (EMP) weapon detonated at a high altitude over the central United States that would basically render useless all of our current technology that relies upon electricity
  2. The possibility of a nuclear strike on one or more of our large cities.
While both scenarios were horrible to ponder, the question arose as to which would be the better choice for the population if a decision like that were to be made.

We vehemently debated the pros and cons of the choices for over two hours. When the debate came to a close, we both agreed that making a decision for either would be very, very difficult because of the costs to human life with each choice. Simply put, the ramifications of a decision for either would be horrifying.

That conversation last night got me to thinking about life in general. Everyone has to make decisions every day...and I am no different. However, as a Christian, I feel an added burden because the decisions I make do not just reflect upon me or my family, but on the body of Christ and Christ himself. With that being said, I find that decisions I must make are no lest fraught with angst than the decision discussed above. Do I allow this or that into my home, what level of association do I have with this person or that, what impact will my words have on this particular situation, etc....

The point I am trying to make is that our individual decisions, though not of the magnitude of my opening example, are no less important. Make them with care for their ramifications could be wide-spread and far reaching!
